Travellers can reach foreign ministry 24/7 at +31 247 247 247

Foreign minister Bert Koenders and travel expert Floortje Dessing have launched a new central helpline for travellers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can now be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week at +31 247 247 247 for practical travel tips and assistance. Travellers abroad can also contact the Ministry online and via Twitter. It is estimated that about 3,000 people per day will use the new services.

The BZ 24/7 Contact Centre aims to cater for the changing needs of Dutch travellers. ’The Dutch have become real globetrotters’, Mr Koenders said. ‘We are travelling further, more frequently, and in more adventurous ways.’ The minister wants to be able to help travellers round the clock, wherever they may be. ‘Particularly in an emergency, of course, but also before they set out. Being well prepared is half the battle.’

The new services are not only for holidaymakers, but also for Dutch people living abroad and foreigners wanting to travel to the Netherlands. By operating through a central contact centre in The Hague, the Ministry aims to provide a better and faster service for the public.
